Jessie Foakes
Not a typical Essex girl' is how artist Jessie Foakes would describe herself. Born and raised in Essex, she has only recently moved out of the van she has spent the last year living in.
Formerly a tattoo artist, Jessie has recently made the transition from skin to canvas, picking up her brushes and reigniting her creative passion. Jessie Foakes' pop art paintings reconstruct familiar commercial visual imagery, whilst continuing to experiment with new characters, colours and themes.
'I'm used to working in a kind of here and there style, and I guess that is how I paint. I love working with something super obvious and changing it into how I see it... a change here and there... see how we go. I use anything to paint with, rulers seem to be a go to at the moment but just anything I can get my hands onto really, snapped bits of wood, palette knives , pens , spray paint.'
