Ian Fennelly
Ian Fennelly studied painting at Wimbledon School of Art where he gained a first-class honours degree. After initially working as a drawing office manager, Ian has worked as an artist and teacher for several years on the Wirral and is one of our most well-known local artists here at the gallery.
Ian Fennelly's paintings are popular for his expressive, colourful watercolour displays of local places, predominantly their buildings and architecture, Ian has recently spent time creating a series of ink and wash drawings, developing what are referred to as his new 'Urban Sketches'. Created on location, this new body of work focuses on architectural structures through the use of washes to create tonal depth and fine-liner work to emphasise the intricate detail of form and texture. Ian Fennelly has immersed himself in these various busy urban environments, working on-site to create artwork which has resulted in fresh, expressive and quirky compositions."
